Anastasia Beverly Hills Dream Glow Kit Review

June 30, 2018

It was love at first sight when Anastasia Beverly Hills announced their new Dream Glow Kit palette. Stick the words ‘unicorn’ and ‘magic’ on something predominately pink and sparkly that I can put on my face and I’m sold! I watched all the videos and stared at the promo pictures until the release day where I stayed up late to buy it. I was so excited when it came, it’s easily the prettiest packaged highlighter palette!

So without further ado let’s get into the review.

From Beauty Bay:

A six-shade highlighting palette.

Intensely pigmented and effortlessly buildable, Dream Glow Kit is the perfect tool for enhancing and accentuating your favourite features. Suitable for all skin tones, these multi-dimensional shades can be worn alone or mixed together to create a dazzling, ultra-customised glow.

  • £46
  • Vegan
  • Cruelty-Free
  • 4.5g

From top to Bottom:

  • Wish – Metallic peach with gold and pink sparkle.
  • Unicorn – A bold pink with lavender sparkles.
  • Magic – A cool, icy base with tones of pink, gold, red and blue.
  • Ethereal – Cool lavender/blue duo chrome shade.
  • Sunshine – A bright gold with warm undertones and a sparkling lavender shift.
  • Regal – Warm, rose gold with a metallic finish.

I’m obsessed with the packaging of this palette! The holographic casing makes the entire palette feel even more magical. It’s bigger than the other glow kit I own, Aurora, which justified the price increase for me, and made from cardboard which feels pretty sturdy. It also has a magnetic closure which I always appreciate. The only downside is that it’s not very travel friendly but that doesn’t bother me too much as I don’t travel often.

First Impressions:

These highlighters are intensely pigmented, as can be expected from the glow kits, and blend into the skin beautifully. I know this palette won’t be everyone’s cup of tea as the colours are a bit out there and mainly pink based, but I’ve been really loving it so far. I find the shade ‘Unicorn’ is just as pigmented in the pan as it is on the skin, giving you a very bold pink highlight which personally I thought look amazing! My favourite shades and the ones I’ve used most often is ‘Sunshine’ and ‘Regal,’ but each highlight gives off a beautiful blinding glow that can’t be missed!

There is quite a lot of fine glitter in these which is pretty clear when applied to the face, luckily it doesn’t disperse too much and I don’t end up with a face full of glitter. I apply them with a Spectrum A04 brush, they go on very smoothly and doesn’t emphasize any texture on my face, and I find they last all throughout my 8/9 hour work day. I feel like a sparkling, glowing unicorn when I’m wearing them which is all I ever really want!

Overall Thoughts:

Overall I’m surprised this palette hasn’t had more hype around it. From what I’ve seen people are saying it’s too similar to Moonchild and Aurora and that the colours aren’t wearable. Honestly, I disagree. I don’t think this palette is similar to the other, more colourful ones. I find the Dream palette is a lot bolder while the shades in Moonchild and Aurora were more pastel plus the colours aren’t really similar at all. Depending on the intensity in which you apply these highlighters they are 100% wearable! I’ve worn this palette to work every day and haven’t felt out of place or over the top, you are definitely able to get a subtle, pretty glow out of this palette if you only use a small amount.

I really like this palette and have had a lot of fun wearing it. It looks great next to my other palettes and choosing which colour to wear has become my favourite part of getting ready in the morning! I would definitely recommend it if you’re someone who likes to play around with colour. If you like a more subtle/neutral colour glow though then I would still suggest trying one of the other glow kits by ABH as the quality is just fantastic!

What are your thoughts on the Dream palette?

I think this is sooo pretty, but I just don’t wear highlighter colors like this. I’m also not a fan of glitter in my highlights, but man it’s such a pretty palette!

Yeah I think that’s why there isn’t a lot of hype around it, not from what I’ve seen anyway. But it is a stunning palette and the colours look amazing when they’re on!
