I was in two minds about the BADgal Bang mascara. It had been so hyped up by Benefit and then they released that awful picture on Instagram which instantly put me off. Even though at the time I had no interest in buying it I still watched Sophdoesnails review which completely changed my mind. Her lashes looked incredible and despite all the mixed reviews, I knew I needed to try it and write a review of my own!

This is without a doubt the coolest looking mascara I’ve ever owned. It’s extremely eye-catching and fits perfectly with their ‘bad girl’ theme. I love the matte black, edgy look and the colour combinations. They did an amazing job with this packaging and it really stands out when you go to a Benefit counter.
The first thing I noticed was the length and flexibility of the wand. I’ve seen quite a few people saying that the wand isn’t anything special but I really liked it. I thought the length would make it easier to apply to every lash and the flexibility would be able to really get that curl. I also like the slimness of it. A lot of mascara wands are quite thick and almost fluffy looking so this was different as the bristles are more separated and it looks very sleek.
The formula of this mascara was very wet which surprised me as most mascaras I’ve used feel quite thick, so I was a little worried that it was going to be very messy once applied to my lashes. It’s also the most intensely black mascara I’ve ever seen! I have extremely pale blonde eyelashes, to the point where without mascara it looks like I don’t have any at all, so I was very excited when I saw how black this was.
With one swipe it looked like I had false lashes on! It was super volumising, super black and not as clumpy as I had believed it would be. It wasn’t the easiest mascara to use, I did get quite a lot of black specs on my eyelids but that didn’t really bother me as it was easy enough to fix. I thought because the formula was so wet it wouldn’t dry quickly but I had no issues with any transferring. Again applying it to my bottom lashes got a little messy but the overall look was insane. I could not stop staring at my lashes! I had no idea that they could be that long!
It lasted very well throughout the day, I didn’t notice my lashes dropping or losing their curl at all. There was also no flakiness and they felt pretty comfortable. It’s easy to remove too. Obviously, I have not worn this for 36 hours and I don’t plan on doing so but I do wear it for about 12 hours a day and am very happy with the performance. It did take me a few practice goes before I was 100% happy with it and it wasn’t just a big clumpy mess so do bear that in mind. The wand is tricky to use but the flexibility and length mean that it can coat every single lash, even the tiny corner ones.
Although I don’t find it as clumpy as that initial Instagram picture it is quite a clumpy mascara and doesn’t separate my lashes as much as I want it to. However with how volumising, thickening and black it is I can forgive the slight clumpiness.
As you can see from the pictures it is VERY intense!
Overall I love this mascara and I’m so glad I bought it! It gives my lashes extreme volume, the colour is amazing and it lasts so well during the day. I would definitely re-purchase this when it runs out. I feel like it really helps to open up my eyes and makes a statement, even on days when I’m not doing much with my makeup. Benefit did an amazing job with this mascara in my opinion!
I hope you enjoyed this review! Have you tried this mascara? What are your thoughts on it?
