Dior Forever Matte Foundation Review
After using Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation religiously for about a year now, I thought it was about time to splash out and try something new! The Dior Forever Matte Foundation was a bit of an impulse buy. I hadn’t really read much about it before but it had some amazing reviews and seemed to have everything I normally look for in a foundation so I decided to just give it a go.

The packaging for this foundation is pretty simple yet still screams luxury. A frosted glass bottle with the Dior logo and foundation name embossed in silver is all that is on the front and it looks super classy and sophisticated. It has a simple black lid, again with the Dior logo on the top, and has all the details, including the shade name on the bottom of the bottle. I was also glad to see this foundation has a pump, which is both the easiest and most sanitary way to dispense the foundation.
First Impressions of the Dior Forever Matte Foundation
I got the shade 1N Neutral which, according to the website Findation, was the right shade for me based on other foundations I’ve used in the past. Once again the website was very accurate and it’s a great colour match!
The consistency of the foundation is pretty thick which is always a good sign for me. I love a full coverage foundation. And after trying out other foundations that had a watery consistency look like a total mess on me, I was happy to see this thick little blob. One thing that was a little annoying though is the pump squirts the foundation out all over your hand unless you’re super careful with it.
I used one pump of the foundation to start with which gave me a light-medium coverage. A second small pump really targeted the problem areas. And after a third pump, it was completely full coverage. This is about standard with most foundations for me. I always use about 2/3 pumps to get a smooth, even, full cover that I’m happy with.
The foundation really sunk into my skin and blended beautifully. It was very natural looking and definitely super matte, not cakey whatsoever. My skin looked like skin but better. It was very smooth and flawless, even without using a primer beforehand and I was really impressed!
The Finish and Wear
The Dior Forever Matte Foundation claims to last 24 hours. While I didn’t wear it for that long, I have worn it for about 15/16 hours a day and didn’t have any issues with it. It stayed fairly matte all day, as I have oily skin I do have to re-powder my t-zone maybe once or twice a day, but it really wasn’t very noticeable. It looked more like a healthy glow rather than an oily mess like other foundations I’ve tried. I also didn’t notice any transferring issues and, aside from the days I’ve suffered from hayfever and rubbed my eye area a lot, it stayed completely smooth and even all day,
I’ve even done a few workouts while wearing this foundation and it stayed put, so if you’re looking for a long-lasting foundation then the Dior Forever Matte Foundation has your back!
This is a truly great foundation! I’m honestly so impressed with it and don’t have anything negative to say. The colour is perfect and it feels nice and light on the skin. It’s a buildable foundation which is great for days where I want a lighter coverage or if a new blemish pops up and need a bit more. It keeps my skin looking smooth, flawless and it doesn’t look flat or cakey like some other matte foundations do.
I’m so glad this foundation has been a huge success as the last few I’ve tried, such as the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish and the Milani Conceal and Perfect foundations have been major disasters. I’d say the Dior Forever Matte Foundation is definitely up there with my all-time favourites. While it is on the pricey side I believe it’s worth every penny and would recommend it to my fellow oily-skinned gals.
I hope you all enjoyed this review! Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried this foundation.
