Go Big or Go Home Mascara by Kat Von D Review
Last weekend I picked up a free sample of Kat Von D’s brand new Go Big or Go Home mascara! I was super excited to try this out as I’m a big fan of Kat Von D products. I also wanted to see if it would beat my current holy grail mascara which is the Benefit BADgal Bang. I’ve been using the Go Big or Go Home mascara for about week now so let’s dive into this review!
Go Big or Go Home’ Mascara is an extreme volume mascara, powered by plant-based fats. This long-wear mascara has a smooth texture that glides onto lashes for big, blown-out volume, delivering an eye-opening effect that lasts all day and actually doesn’t smudge or flake. In high pigment ”Trooper Black”, lashes stay saturated and true black until you go home. get a perfect application with the custom designed Fluff Brush: Its wavy fibre bristles catch and coat each lash for fluffy full coverage. Formulated with a vegan blend of olive and sunflower oils (instead of beeswax, which is commonly used in mascara), go Big or go Home has everything you want in your mascara…the only fluff is in the brush.

The packaging for the sample size is completely different from the full-size product. The sample size comes in a squeezy tube but still has the same, gothic style writing on the front. I’ve always loved the style of Kat Von D’s packaging, it’s so completely different to anything else and really reflects the brand. From what I’ve seen in pictures the writing on the full-size product is a glossy black and it looks like quite a chunky tube.
I was really excited to try this mascara…until I pulled out the wand. I hadn’t realised that it was a very thick, fluffy wand which I’m not a fan of. It was definitely a struggle to apply with this wand style and I couldn’t get into my inner corners very well at all. I also felt like it wasn’t gripping onto my lashes much and it needed several coats before they were as black as I normally like. Honestly, I didn’t think it gave my lashes that much volume, especially compared to the Benefit BADgal BANG mascara. It did separate them nicely though and it wasn’t clumpy at all.
Throughout the day it did stay on really well and there was zero flaking or transferring onto my eyelids which I was really happy about. However, I won’t be buying the full-size version. I cannot get on with the wand and it doesn’t give me as much length or volume as I like. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it’s not worth the money and there are many better mascaras out there that are loads cheaper too.
