Pop Beauty Permanent Pout Lipsticks Review

Blog post

Just before Christmas, I received a very generous and surprising package from Pop Beauty. The package contained NINE of their Pop Beauty Permanent Pout Lipsticks, along with two plastic glasses to test our their transfer-proof formula. I was not expecting the package at all so it definitely felt like an early Christmas surprise!

About

From the Pop Beauty Website:

Get pouty with this full-coverage liquid lipstick with a velvety, matte finish. Extremely long-wearing and kiss-proof, these lip colours are 15 shades of audacious! Lasts all-day & all-night.

  • 15 shades
  • £8
  • Cruelty-Free

Shades

As mentioned I was sent 9 shades out of the 15, which included 6 brand new shades and 3 cult classics.

  • Red Velvet
  • Berry Burst
  • Butter Babe
  • Coral Crush
  • Pink Tutu
  • Plump Peach
  • OMG Violet
  • Poppy Pout
  • Razzle Rose

The shades were a perfect mix of vibrant and neutrals, with Razzle Rose, Butter Babe and Pink Tutu being the most wearable shades for every day. I think both Coral Crush and Poppy Pout will be ideal to wear in the summer months as I usually love a bright orange/coral lip! Red Velvet, Berry Burst and OMG Violet are great autumn/winter shades and ones I can see myself wearing a lot. Immediately I was drawn to the vampy Red Velvet and beautiful Berry Burst, they’re definitely my favourite shades out of the nine.

The swatches below are in the same order as the list above with Red Velvet at the top and Razzle Rose at the bottom.

Packaging

The packaging is just as fun and vibrant as the shades themselves, which is exactly the kind of aesthetic the whole brand gives out. Chunky with a silver chrome effect and the Pop logo clearly on the front, these lipsticks won’t be hard to miss in my collection! I loved that the lips graphics were a clear window too, so you can easily identify which shade is which. I’m a big fan of this fun, quirky packaging style. They’re eye-catching, pretty and really stand out!

First Impressions

The lipsticks have a long doe-foot applicator which is really easy to use and distribute the colour evenly. With the darker shades such as Red Velvet, OMG Violet and Poppy Pout it took a couple of light applications to ensure the coverage was completely opaque and not patchy at all. Having never tried anything from Pop Beauty before I was extremely impressed with the pigment of these lipsticks! The colours were absolutely stunning and true to what they were when I swatched them. There’s not a single shade here that I would use!

There’s also a nice, subtle fruity scent to them which I really enjoy. It’s not overpowering but it’s definitely very sweet and has me making silly faces while trying to smell my own lips.

It did take quite a while for the lipsticks to dry down, my lips felt wet and sticky for quite some time. But, once they were fully dry the matter formula wasn’t going to budge. I can confirm these are definitely smudge and transfer-proof. In fact, it’s actually a bit of a struggle to get them off! I would recommend using a lip scrub and some balm, before applying though as they do tend to stick to any dry patches on your lips.

Final Thoughts

The Pop Beauty Permanent Pout Lipsticks did an incredible job lasting all day, though food and drink too. A little had worn off by the end of the day, but not so much that it was awkwardly obvious. My only issue is that they are extremely drying so not the most comfortable to wear after a few hours and getting them off can be a pain. Aside from that though they are fantastic quality for the price. Seriously that pigment is hard to beat!

I’m very happy with these lipsticks and very grateful to Pop Beauty for sending them to me. I can’t wait to use some of the brighter shades when it starts to get a little sunnier and warmer.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried the Pop Beauty Permanent Pout Lipsticks!
