A Blogger’s Holiday Tag!
A Blogger’s Holiday Tag
It’s that time of year where I do a fun, festive tag! This year I found ‘A Blogger’s Holiday Tag’ on Gabby in the City’s blog and really loved reading through it. The questions seemed really cute and a great way for any newcomers to get to know me a bit better and my love for Christmas haha. If you feel like doing the Blogger’s Holiday Tag too, then please feel free and let me know in the comments so I can read through your answers too!
1. When is an acceptable time to play Christmas music?
Personally, I start adding Christmas songs into my playlists after June 25th, the halfway mark to Christmas. I love listening to Christmas songs so the earlier the better in my opinion! But, I think the most acceptable time to openly listen to them is November 1st, that’s usually when I start to hear them being played in shops.
2. All-time favourite Christmas album?
Mickey Mouse the Twelve Days of Christmas album hands down! I LOVE this Christmas album as it always takes me back to my childhood. I remember sitting in my room at night, listening to this album and singing along to all the words, pretending to put on my own little Christmas concert with Mickey and Minnie all throughout December.
3. How do you spend Christmas morning?
I get just as excited for Christmas morning as I did when I was a kid. I still get up ridiculously early and wake up my mum and sister haha. Then we’ll all sit on my mum’s bed and open our stockings from Santa before heading downstairs, making some breakfast, drinking bucks fizz and getting ready to either head to my gran’s house or wait for her to come over to ours. As our family is pretty small it’s always a very chilled out, cosy morning. This year will be the first year I’ll be in my own house and with my husband so it’ll be extremely different from previous years!
4. What’s a new Christmas tradition you want to start doing?
Oh, that’s a hard question! I’m not entirely sure. I made my own Christmas wreath last year which was a lot of fun and something I’d love to do again. I’d like to start baking more elaborately designed Christmas cakes too, I’ve done it a couple of times in the past and while it’s a lot of hard work it’s a lot of fun too.
5. What is your favourite baked good around Christmas time?
Christmas is the best time of year for snacks! I love making the Nutella Christmas tree, it’s super easy to make and tastes amazing. Sometimes we’ll have it for Christmas morning breakfast. I love gingerbread too and decorating a gingerbread house is always a fun festive activity I look forward to every year.
6. Favourite Christmas candle scent?
We all know I love a Christmas candle! Anything that smells like cinnamon, winter spice, cranberry, Christmas cookies, pine or gingerbread and I’m all over it! It’s an addiction. Smelling any festive candles gives me a major serotonin boost haha.
7. What is your ideal secret Santa gift?
That’s a tricky question as I haven’t done secret Santa much in my life. I think some Lush bath bombs or a gift card for Caffe Nero will always be a winner for me though.
8. When is your ideal Christmas shopping time?
I always like to start my Christmas shopping in September and have it pretty much finished by October. That way during November and December I can relax a bit and just pick up little bits and pieces that I think people will like. Of course with how difficult this year has been that hasn’t happened. I’d barely started Christmas shopping in November which really stressed me out!
9. A picture that reminds you of Christmas
Seeing pictures of the arches at Winter Wonderland will always give me the festive feels.
My all-time favourite Christmas movie, I always like to watch this on December 1st and Christmas Eve.
10. How do you like to decorate your house/apartment/room?
I like to really go all out for Christmas. I’ll usually set aside a whole day to spend decorating the house. I’ll throw on some Christmas tunes, wear comfy clothes and decorate. It takes me anywhere between 6-12 hours so I’m always exhausted by the end of it but I love doing it. Usually, we’ll decorate early December, but since I’m now in my own house and we needed to feel the festive joy early thanks to the pandemic, we decorated extra early, just after my birthday in November.
At my mum’s house we would have themed rooms, so the hallway was called the snow forest and was decorated in silver, white and blue, the living room was more traditional and my room would be purple, pink and gold. This year in my own house it was fun to create new decorating traditions and buying loads of new decorations. I’ll have a post going up soon on how we decorated for Christmas this year so keep your eyes peeled for that!
11. What is your favourite Christmas activity?
Ahh there’s too many to choose from! Sadly a lot of my favourite Christmas activities got cancelled this year, like the pantomime which I’ve been going to with my nan and sister since I was about 2 years old. Winter Wonderland is always a fun activity I love that got cancelled and many other Christmas markets too. Still, I love having a baking and Christmas movie day on Christmas eve, decorating a gingerbread house, Christmas shopping, decorating the house and going for a drive to see everyone’s Christmas lights.
12. What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
Absolutely everything. There’s not one thing I dislike about Christmas. If I could live in Christmas Town I 100% would. Sometimes I think I was a Christmas elf in a previous life. I love the whole cosy, Christmas feeling. I love how happy everyone is. And I love the build-up, the excitement, the anticipation. It really is the most wonderful time of the year!
