The Best 2020 Christmas Adverts
Who doesn’t love a good, heartwarming, Christmas advert?! I look forward to watching them every year! This year I was very curious to see what companies 2020 Christmas adverts would be like. Would they be all doom and gloom? Would every advert be about the pandemic? Thankfully, a lot of them were pretty lighthearted which was a relief. And even the ones about the pandemic had some kind of happy ending, reflecting the human spirit, people’s kindness and hope.
Here are 6 of my favourite 2020 Christmas adverts:
The Disney advert this year was the only one to make me cry. It’s a very heartwarming ad that featuring a grandmother and her granddaughter and the family Christmas traditions they’ve enjoyed over the years. There’s a strong sentimental theme in this advert which just gets me! And a fun, festive surprise for the grandmother at the end. It’s very cute, very touching and my favourite Christmas advert this year.
Amazon did a great job with their advert this year! It follows the story of a young dancer whose performance got cancelled because of Coronavirus. But, that didn’t stop her from having hope. She continued to practice her routine and her friends, family and neighbours all come together to give her a stage to perform. It’s a very heartwarming ad that was inspired by the unbeatable human spirit.
I absolutely loved the McDonald’s advert last year encouraging people to get ‘reindeer ready’ and this year was just as cute. This year the advert focuses on a mother struggling to connect with her moody and uninterested teenage son. After taking a trip through the Drive-Thru they pick up some reindeer treats, which starts to get him in the festive spirit and unleashes his inner child. It’s an adorable advert which I think brings some festive cheer.
Kevin the Carrot is back once again and this time he’s got a hedgehog friend with him! Everyone loves the Aldi adverts and this year was just as fun and festive as the last. Set to the theme song of Home Alone, Kevin is trying to get home in time for Christmas with his family. It’s adventurous, ridiculous and super cute. With the help of Santa Kevin makes it back just in time!
This year, Asda address the fact that Christmas will be pretty different to what we’re used to, but that doesn’t mean that we still can’t have a fun time and enjoy all the good food this time of year has to offer. It’s a very sweet advert of a young family enjoying their small Christmas together and going all out with the food and decorations.
I think Tesco has been my favourite supermarket advert this year. It was funny, entertaining and with a heartfelt message that this year, there is no naughty list, everyone deserves a little treat and a lot of happiness after 2020. The toilet roll hoarders, the amateur, lockdown hairdressers giving their family terrible cuts, Tesco are saying to forget about all the little naughty things we’ve done and just enjoy ourselves this Christmas.
Let me know in the comments which 2020 Christmas advert was your favourite this year and why, I’d love to know!
