Decorate our House for Christmas 2020

Like many people this year we decided to decorate our house for Christmas super early. We desperately needed some festive cheer! So, around mid-November, while we were both off from work, we pulled all the decorations out and spent an entire day decorating. It was pretty exhausting but we had so much fun and I love seeing all the Christmas decorations every day!

Here’s how we’ve decorated our house for Christmas 2020:

Front of the House

We didn’t have as much room as we would’ve liked at the front of the house to decorate, but we did our best with what we had and I think it looks pretty good! I also know our neighbours, when out for walks with their kids, have stopped to take photos of our decorations which makes me so happy! I’ve always wanted to be one of those attraction houses at Christmas haha. One day, when we have a real front garden, it’ll be such a big event.

When you enter the house you’re taken to the ‘enchanted forest’ as we’ve named it haha. Where flickering candles hang from the ceiling along with glass icicles. And a singing, motion sensor polar bear head is there to greet you. I really want to build this section up over the next few years and make it a real winter wonderland.

Kitchen/Dining

In the kitchen, we have some super tacky and colourful foil decorations pinned to the ceiling. I’ve always been a big fan of these types of decorations. They just really feel like Christmas to me.

In the windowsill by the dining table, we put up some coloured lights, a couple of sparkly reindeer jumping over the clock and Santa and his sleigh which is a new decoration this year. I love this little corner. Especially in the evening when it just feels super cosy.

And of course, we have our Christmas tree in here too as it’s the biggest space and we didn’t want to try and get the tree upstairs in the living room haha. I love this tree so much, it’s so bright and colourful and festive. It’s been great for my work video call background too!

Upstairs Hallway

The upstairs hallway really is something special! We’ve got more ceiling foil decorations, some Christmas cushions on the bench and a giant singing and dancing Santa which is one of the biggest highlights. I got this Santa Claus from my gran for Christmas last year. She used to have one and as a kid/teen I absolutely loved it. It was always so exciting seeing him in the hallway of her house. So, she got me my own one for our house and honestly, I wish he could stay there all year haha.

Living Room

The living room is probably my favourite festive room in the house. It’s beyond cosy and I love being in there watching Christmas movies and wrapping presents. I spent a really long time building up the fireplace and I’m so happy with how it came out. We also have a mini, Bloom & Wild Christmas tree in here too which is super cute.

Back Garden

Finally, in the back garden, we have two very majestic giant reindeer that we picked up from Costco this year. We really wanted to put them out the front but there was just no room. Because we live in quite a built-up area though, our neighbours can easily see them haha. I’m hoping it makes all the kids around here happy! We also have a projector in the back garden which projects snowfall onto the house too.

I hope you all enjoyed this little Christmas decoration house tour! Let me know in the comments which room/area is your favourite. While you’re here don’t forget to subscribe to Beauty and the Bookshelves. You can also follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest too. Thanks for reading!

I love the way you’ve decorated your outside entrance and the two light up reindeers in the back garden are pretty 🙂 the snowfall projections must be nice to watch too! xx

Thank you! ? The reindeer really are something special, hopefully one year we’ll be able to put them out the front somehow ?✨
