Blog post

Every Blogmas so far I’ve done a Christmas themed tag which I think are always fun to write and read. Not only does it help you get into the festive spirit but you can learn a lot about the person behind the blog. So, today is the day for a festive blogger tag! I found this tag on Katie The Tourist’s blog and liked the look of it so without further ado lets get into the questions.

1.) What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Santa Claus: The Movie, without a doubt. It’s been my favourite Christmas movie since I was a toddler and every year I like to watch it on December first and Christmas eve. It’s just the most magical movie and when I was a child my mum convinced me that it was the real Santa in that movie which made it even more special to me haha.

2.) Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

We open our stockings from Father Christmas on Christmas morning and then open the rest of the presents under the tree after lunch on Christmas day. We’ve never, ever opened any presents on Christmas Eve. I would’ve loved to have done that as a child but now I’d prefer to save it all for Christmas Day and leave Christmas Eve to be the big, exciting build-up/prep day.

3.) Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

Oh my gosh, I could not think of just one favourite Christmas memory. Literally every single Christmas I’ve had has been an amazing, happy time. (Apart from the one where the broken attic door swung down and hit my mum. There was a ton of blood and we all thought she’d broke her nose, so that was a pretty stressful, worrisome Christmas Day, but she was absolutely fine in the end).

There’s been a couple of times where we as a family have rented a big manor style house over the Christmas period and those have always been fun and memorable. One house we rented in Cornwall had a bar, steam room and a jacuzzi, it was the size of a mansion and felt very lavish. We also played a murder mystery game in that particular house which I really enjoyed. I’d love to do a Christmas away like that again.

4.) Favourite festive food?

Ah so many to choose from! The first thing that comes to mind is pigs in blankets, I always look forward to those. But then I also love to stuff myself on Pringles, Celebrations, Lindt Chocolate and those super chocolatey biscuits from M&S.

5.) Favourite Christmas gift?

Obviously I’ve received a lot of Christmas gifts over the years so choosing just one favourite one is very difficult. The only thing I can think of right now is a couple of years ago in my father Christmas stocking I received the bell from The Polar Express (if you know, you know) and I just really loved that.

6.) Favourite Christmas scent?

I love the smell of mince pies and sherry at Christmastime, it makes the whole house seem very cosy and festive. Cinnamon as well will always be my go-to scent, along with Snow Fairy from Lush if that counts haha.

7.) Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

I do! As mentioned before I always like to watch my favourite Christmas movie, Santa Claus: The Movie on Christmas Eve. I’ll usually start the day with a festive bath using a Lush bath bomb, then I’ll bake my family famous chocolate cheesecake which we’ll have on either Christmas Day or Boxing day. In the afternoon/evening I’ll then just chill out with the family, watching movies, having a big 3-course dinner and playing games.

8.) What tops your tree?

A star has always topped our tree.

9.) As a kid what was the one extravagant gift you always asked for but never received?

I’m sure I must’ve asked for a puppy or a kitten at some point as a child, or a holiday to Disneyland, but I can’t remember. One thing I really wanted, which was out of stock everywhere, was the Anastasia doll in her big, gold, sparkly ballgown. My parents could not get hold of that anyway so they got me a different Anastasia doll instead. While I was happy to even get an Anastasia doll, the one in the gold dress is still something I think about and long for now haha.

10.) What’s the best part about Christmas for you?

Absolutely everything. I don’t believe three is anything I dislike about Christmas. From the shopping and the music to the decorations and the baking. I enjoy every aspect of the festive season. It really is the most wonderful time of the year!

I hope you all enjoyed this festive blogger tag! If you want to take part then please feel free. While you’re here don’t forget to subscribe to my blog. You can also follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest too.
