Goals for 2018

December 20, 2017

2018 is fast approaching and I’m thinking of what’s going to happen or where I’ll be this time next year. So much can change in a year, it’s both scary and exciting. I didn’t want to make any resolutions as they’re usually short term whims that I always end up breaking. Instead I’m looking at the bigger picture and making some goals that I will strive to achieve within the year.

Move Out:

This is probably this biggest goal on my list. All year my boyfriend and I have been saving money for a house deposit. I’m not going to lie, we haven’t done it 100% by ourselves, one of his family members have helped us massively. We’re still saving money every month though and will be ready to buy next year. It’s a huge step in our relationship! Jaz currently lives in Essex, whereas I’m in Somerset so I will be moving up there. We’ve viewed a few houses already but nothing has really jumped out at us. So in the first three months we’re making plans to view as many as we can, it’s just difficult with the distance. We hope to have our own house and be moved in by September so that we can spend both of our birthday’s and Christmas in our new home.

Work on the Blog:

I’ve been blogging seriously since August and have loved every second of it. My blog has been steadily growing, as have my Instagram and Twitter, and I’ve met so many lovely people through it! I thoroughly enjoy blogging and want to work on it to make it better. At the moment, aside from Blogtober and Blogmas, I post once a week. I’d like to try and post more, just starting with two a week and hopefully going up to three. Of course this is a difficult task because life and work get in the way sometimes and the blogging idea bank can quickly become empty. I will do my best though, there are so many bloggers out there who inspire and motivate me and I really want to put everything I can into this blog.

Get a Job in London:

This goes with the moving out goal. If we manage to buy a house in Essex I would love to get a job, doing something relating to my degree, in the city. I’ve wanted to work in London for as long as I can remember. Living in a small town, where opportunities are few and far between, pretty much everyone’s aspiration was to escape and get a job in London. I don’t talk on here or on social media about my work because I’m not proud of it, it’s not something that I love or that excites me in any way. I have a degree in Drama and Creative Writing and my ideal job would be a Copy Editor, so that’s what I’m going to aim for next year. It’ll definitely be tough because there’s a lot of competition in London and I’m no longer a fresh graduate, but if I do manage to get something within that field I’ll be much happier.

Lose Weight:

This is a classic resolution that I make year after year, most of the time I fail but this year I lost a stone and really felt the difference. So my goal is to continue to lose weight and maybe join a gym. I have a specific weight and dress size I’d like to get down to. I’m currently a size 12/14 but I’d love to be a size 10. I am perfectly happy with having curves, most of the time I am fairly comfortable with myself, but there are days where I feel fat and disgusting and wish my stomach podge would disappear haha. Losing weight is definitely a slow process but I will do my best!

Host Christmas:

This is another goal that relates back to having my own home. I’ve always wanted to host Christmas. I want to plan the cooking and the baking, create the perfect table setting, have my family come round to relax and marvel at the beautiful decorations and play perfect hostess haha. I’m sure in reality it’ll be a big, stressful mess but it’s something I’d love to attempt.

Those are all of the goals I’d like to achieve next year. There may not be many but some are pretty big, life changing goals. I would also like to go on holiday but I’m not going to add that to a goal list because It’s not something I’ll be actively trying to do, it’ll just be a nice bonus. What are some of your goals for next year? Let me know in the comments. You can subscribe to my blog if you want to see more content from me. You can also follow me on Instagram and Twitter, I will follow all bloggers back. Thanks for reading!
