London Ice Bar Experience

The London Ice Bar in Mayfair is the ideal winter activity and something Jaz and I was lucky enough to experience last weekend! For my birthday last month Jaz’s cousins bought me an ice bar experience which we managed to book before Christmas. Neither Jaz nor I had ever done anything like this before so we were both pretty excited to see what it was all about.

We arrived at around 12:15, 15 minutes before our booking, and had to stand in a short queue to be given our capes and gloves before entering the ice bar. Honestly, I wanted to take the cape home with me at the end. It was super cosy with its faux fur-lined hood!

The bar is kept at a chilly -5 degrees! We didn’t really feel the cold much, to begin with, thanks to the capes. It was only when we left did we realise our hands were pretty cold and our phones had a bit of a frosty condensation on the screens haha.

The room was fairly small but at the time we went, there weren’t that many people so it didn’t feel crowded at all. There were also ice sculptures dotted around to look at while you have your cocktails.

The cocktails even come in glasses made of ice which was interesting. I held on to my glass so tight, scared I was going to drop it and smash ice all over the floor haha. I chose the Bifrost Bite cocktail which is made from Absolut Blue vodka, Passoa, passion fruit purée, lychee juice, lemon juice. It was deliciously sweet and went down far too quickly! Jaz chose the Valkyrie’s Ride cocktail which was made from Beefeater gin, violet liqueur, lemon juice, cranberry juice, rose syrup and he really enjoyed it too.

Fire Bar

The ice bar experience lasts for 40 minutes but we left after about 30 to head into the fire bar. The fire bar was a lot busier and we struggled to find somewhere to sit. Luckily some really nice people offered to share their table with us so we didn’t have to sit outside.

Inside, the fire bar was super cosy! They also had their Christmas decorations up making it nice and festive too. The whole place had such a nice atmosphere and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. The actual bar itself was probably one of the coolest bars I’d ever seen. You don’t see flames coming up from just any old regular bar!

They had a wide range of different signature cocktails in this bar so it took a while to choose what we wanted! In the end, I went for a Strawberry Crush which involved Absolut Blue vodka, strawberry purée, lime, mint, soda water. Jaz decided to be adventurous. He went for their festive cocktail of the month, which involved cardamom coffee and Baileys mixed with Bourbon and honey. His cocktail also had mini marshmallows on top which was really cute.

Overall we both had a great time and would love to visit the London Ice Bar again! It was unlike anything we’d ever done before. I felt like a real Londoner visiting this cool little bar hidden down a side street too haha.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever visited an ice bar! I hope you all enjoyed this post. If you did then don’t forget to subscribe to my blog. You can also follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest too. Thanks for reading!

If I went there, I’d probably say ‘I’m cold’ at least 10 times over, but still enjoy it 😅 It seems like going there makes a nice change from typical outings 👍

I kept announcing that my hand was cold while holding a glass literally made of ice 😂😂😂 It definitely was a unique experience, I’d love to do more things like it 😊
