Visiting Brimsmore Garden Centre 2020

Ahhh there’s nothing quite like visiting a garden centre during the festive season. So many lights and decorations are displayed everywhere. It is quite literally a magical winter wonderland. And The Brimsmore Garden Centre in Yeovil, Somerset is easily my favourite one.

I’ve been visiting Brimsmore Garden Centre since I was a kid. It’s always a highlight of the Christmas season and has inspired our own home decorating many times. This year I was super worried I wouldn’t be able to go go. But, just before lockdown, and my wedding, we made a trip down to Yeovil to pick up my dress and found time to pop in and admire all the decorations!

Entering Brimsmore Garden Centre

This year, Brimsmore have implemented a one-way system and the entrance is actually at the back. Luckily it wasn’t busy at all when we went so we didn’t run into any people anyway. It started with a Willy Wonka theme which I thought was super cute. I loved the giant lollipops, they were so unique and would awesome in someone’s hallway!

Winter Wonderland

Around the corner from the Willy Wonka section, it turned into a winter wonderland theme. Usually, the train set with the Christmas village pieces are at the end of the garden centre but since it was back to front this year it was at the beginning. The reindeer are something I always look forward to seeing as they are animated and sing some festive songs.

They also had an impressive display of glass baubles which is another favourite part of mine.

Tropical Christmas

We then entered into the tropical theme which is always so pretty. Filled with llamas, elephants, giraffes and many more stuffed toys, kids certainly love this part. I’m a big fan of the decorations and baubles in this section as they’re always so vibrant and sparkly!

Singing Penguins

A new addition to Brimsmore this year was the giant singing penguins they had on display. I loved these guys so much and desperately wish I could take them home! They sang some classic Christmas tunes such as ‘let it snow’ and were just so cute. Although, I was told by an employee that after a while they drive you insane haha.

They also had their classic penguin/polar bear display too which I’m always happy to see.

Traditional Christmas

Despite all of the unique themes, the classic, traditional Christmas will always be my favourite. I love the colours, the boldness and it just gives me all those warm, Christmas feels.

Are you a tinsel lover or hater? I love the stuff!

I believe the majority of garden centres are still open, so if you feel it’s safe enough for you to do so, then definitely visit one. It’s a great way to get in the Christmas spirit, feel inspired and pick up a few new exciting decorations too!

I hope you all enjoyed this post and it gave you some festive cheer! Let me know which garden centre is your favourite to visit this time of year.
