Autumn is time to start preparing for our winter bodies! Although I pretty much prepare all year round because I have no self control. I’ve made a list of some of my favourite, warming, comfort foods to have this season, full of carbs, calories and happiness.
Obviously this is delicious all year round, but there’s something extra special eating it when it’s dark and rainy outside and you’re all wrapped up in a blanket. We usually go for this huge pizza that Tesco make for about £3-£4 and share it between the three of us. It includes chicken, bacon, sweetcorn, BBQ sauce, sometimes peppers and a TON of cheese.
2.) Chicken and Pasta
This is a meal I started making whilst I was at uni. Pasta is one of those foods that I would be very happy to have everyday for the rest of my life. For this I use Penne pasta, chop up a couple of chicken breasts, add an onion and a carbonara sauce and of course, add more cheese. You can never have enough cheese in my opinion. It’s delicious, filling and the ultimate comfort meal.
3.) Beef Casserole in a Yorkshire Pudding
Is your mouth watering yet? It should be! This is probably one of the greatest inventions my family have created. We make a slow cooker beef casserole in a red wine sauce and serve it in a giant, crispy Yorkshire pudding. We’ve also had a roast dinner in a Yorkshire pudding before too. The possibilities are endless and whatever you decide it’s bound to be tasty.
4.) Roast Dinner
Speaking of roast dinners here we have the autumn/winter classic meal, just not in a giant Yorkshire pudding. I love a good Sunday roast, it gives you something to look forward to all week and they are so good!
Spicy, fun and yummy, fajitas are perfect for this time of year, and they’re not too unhealthy either which is a bonus! If you’ve never had fajitas before then you are missing out. They are so flavoursome and will really warm you up on a cold autumn night. We also add in an extra ingredient which I’m sure will surprise you all….CHEESE!
Those are all of my favourite comfort meals to have this season. Don’t judge me too harshly on how unhealthy they are all are haha, I eat well the majority of the time but we all deserve a treat now and then.
