Shortbread Severed Fingers

October 28, 2017

Hey everyone! Today I’m going to show you how to make these creepy looking, shortbread severed fingers, perfect for Halloween treats!

What You’ll Need:

200g Plain Flour

100g Cornflour

200g Salted butter

100g Caster Sugar

Flaked Almonds (For decoration)

This will make between 20-30 fingers depending on the size you make them.

The Recipe:

1.) Sift the flours into a large mixing bowl

2.) Cut the butter into pieces and rub it into the flour until it looks like breadcrumbs

3.) Add in the sugar and mix it together

4.) Knead the mixture into a smooth ball, making sure it’s not crumbly. If it is crumbly and warm put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

5.) Break off pieces of the dough and roll them into sausages.

6.) Using both hands gently pinch the middle and the end together to create a knuckle shape. Keep moulding them until they resemble fingers. Keep in mind that they will expand while in the oven, so don’t make them too thick, otherwise they will lose their shape.

7.) Add a flaked almond for the fingernail and use a knife to create the knuckle lines.

8.) Put them in the oven for 35-40 minutes, or until they’re just starting to turn a very pale brown at the edges. Shortbread is easy to overcook, you don’t want them to be a golden brown.

9.) Take out of the oven and, if need be, quickly mould them back into shape before they set.

10.) Enjoy! These are perfect for yourself, a Halloween party, get together or trick or treaters.
