Dark and cold evenings are made for cosy nights in. There is nothing better than sitting in your pj’s under mountain of blankets feeling warm, toasty and snuggled, especially after a long day. I feel like I have perfected the art of cosiness over the years. So here are my tips and everything I do to ensure I get the ultimate cosy night in.
The first thing I do to start my cosy evening is get a face mask on, most likely Cosmetic Warrior, and run a bath. I always use Lush bath bombs and this time of year I’ll be using their Halloween range. Let the stress of daily life just wash away and feel clean, relaxed and rejuvenated. After a bath I’ll moisturise using The Body Shop’s new Vanilla Pumpkin Body Butter.
You have no idea how much I wish it was socially accepted to wear pyjama’s as everyday clothes, they’re just SO comfy. Currently my favourite pj’s are these unicorn ones from Chelsea Peers NYC
I’ll also throw on a soft dressing gown and either slipper boots or fluffy socks to reach maximum comfort.
If you read my Candle Collection post you’ll know my favourite scent is cinnamon. Having cinnamon fill the room makes me feel happy and festive. Candles are also very pretty and having them as your main source of light for the evening will guarantee you feeling cosy.
I have two blankets which I love. One is a green, mermaid blanket I got for Christmas last year and the other is a super soft, red blanket I bought from TK Maxx which my kitten just loves to sleep on. Curling up on the sofa with a blanket is heaven. Or go that one step further and bring your whole duvet down for a classic duvet day!
Being snuggled in a blanket on the sofa wouldn’t be complete without a steaming mug of hot chocolate, see my recipe here. Let the chocolatey goodness warm your insides and treat your taste buds. It’s impossible to not feel happy and relaxed at this point.
Gather up an array of delicious junk food and worry about the diet tomorrow. Doritos and Milky Bar Buttons are personal favourites of mine but if i’m going all out I’ll order cheesy dough balls, pepperoni pizza and chocolate cookies from Domino’s.
This is an optional step. Sometimes just sitting in silence with your thoughts wearing comfy clothes, surrounded by blankets and a hot drink in hand after being pampered is more than enough. If you want to take it that one step further though watching your current favourite TV series or movie reading a book or doing some colouring just completes the night.
There you have it, my ultimate cosy night in. All of these steps will also work with a cute, cuddly companion by your side. A dog, cat or a boyfriend/girlfriend will surely increase the cosiness level but if you don’t have any of those things then no worries, you’re bound to have an awesome night either way!
