Welcome to Blogtober 2018!
I cannot even begin to tell how excited and happy I am that we are now fully submerged into autumn! October is finally here, Halloween, bonfire night, my birthday and Christmas is coming and I am attempting to do Blogtober again!
Last year Blogtober was a huge success for me, I completed all 31 days, received the most amount of monthly blog views I’d ever had before and I had so much fun doing it! I wasn’t planning on doing it again this year as I’m now working over 40 hours a week but I just couldn’t resist, I love autumn so much I had to try and give it another go. So I started early, I planned my posts in June and am actually writing this in July haha. I’m not sure how this is going to go but I will be giving it my best shot!
If you don’t know Blogtober is a blogging challenge where you post every single day in October. It doesn’t have to be all autumn/Halloween related posts, it can be whatever you like, but personally, I think it’s more fun and special if it is. If you want to join this challenge it’s not too late to start!
To kick things off I thought I’d list some of my favourite things about autumn…I’m just so excited!
1.) Cosy nights in
Sitting under a blanket with some autumn scented candles lit, drinking a hot chocolate and watching movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Harry Potter or Hocus Pocus is what I live for!
2.) All the hot chocolate
It’s now acceptable to drink delicious hot chocolate every day! I guarantee you will find me in either Costa or Cafe Nero every weekend from now on.
3.) Autumn clothes
Autumn clothes are just so much better than summer. No longer do I have to worry about my skin being on show, being a little chunky or shaving my legs every day! I can be comfortable, cosy and still super cute. Autumn fashion is the best and my wardrobe is currently bursting with jumpers.
Pumpkins are everywhere and they make me so happy! I’d love to visit an actual pumpkin patch one day but until then I’ll be digging around in Tesco trying to find the perfect pumpkins for carving.
5.) Darker nights
Hello darkness my old friend. I am one of those strange people who actually prefer the darker nights and mornings. It’s super cosy and means I can go to bed early without feeling guilty it’s still light out.
Spooky season has arrived! I get so into the Halloween spirit. I decorate the house, wear my Halloween jumpers, watch spooky movies, have fun creating Halloween makeup looks and eat all the leftover sweets! Opening the door to trick or treaters is one of my favourite things to do, they always look so adorable in the costumes and get all excited when they see how decorated my house is. It’s so much fun!
7.) Bonfire Night
One of my favourite nights of the year. We always go to a firework display every bonfire night where there are funfair rides and games, bands playing, hot chocolate, burgers and hot dogs. It’s a lot of fun and the fireworks are always beautiful.
8.) Crunchy leaves
Is it even autumn if you haven’t gone out of your way to kick a pile of leaves? I think not! The different coloured leaves all over the ground are so pretty and hearing them crunch under your feet is very satisfying.
9.) My birthday
My birthday is exactly one week after Bonfire Night so that always feels like the start of the celebrations for me. Honestly, who doesn’t love their birthday? It doesn’t bother me that I’m getting older, I still get just as excited about my birthday as I did when I was a kid. I’ll get my nails done, eat cake, open presents and have a great day! My fiance apparently has lots of surprises planned for my birthday this year which I’m not allowed to know about so I’m very excited about that.
10.) Closer to Christmas!
We’re getting closer and closer to the most wonderful time of the year! Need I say more?! The supermarket Christmas aisles are back, people are getting festive and making plans and Christmas shopping. This will be the first year since leaving university that I’m not working in retail so I am beyond excited to have all that time off to celebrate and do Christmassy things. It’s going to be amazing!
I’m not going to lie, writing this post and thinking of all the amazing autumnal things has got me a little emotional haha. I’d love to live in a world where it was autumn all year round, I would just be happy all the time!
