Book Review: When It All Goes Still
Once again the lovely people at Fiery Seas publishing sent me a new book release to review which I am extremely grateful for! I’d had my eye on When It All Goes Still by Allison Mullinax for a while as the cover is beautiful, so when they gave me the opportunity to review it I jumped at the chance!
Disclaimer: Again I’d like to say that all views and opinions are completely my own. I was sent this book complimentary for review purposes which doesn’t alter my opinion at all. Every review on this blog has always been 100% honest and always will be.

Traveler is arrogant, rebellious, and the most skillful Observation Agent within the division. His refusal to follow the agency rules finally catches up to him and a girl witnesses him time-travel.
Johanna Martin is a witty adventurous runner recovering from the tragic loss of her parents. Confused by the dark-faced stranger and what he was doing at the local state park, she is unable to ignore the effects it has had on her.
With his life and reputation at risk, Traveler must choose… Johanna or his life?
I’ve never read a book that involved time travel before but I really enjoyed this one and found the whole concept fascinating. Traveler is from 2365 and it sent back to 2016 for a mission, during this mission he meets Johanna, a woman who’s had a tough few years with her parents dying and her ex-boyfriend getting engaged to her ex-best friend. After they meet they can’t seem to get each other out of their heads so Traveler, being a bit of a rebel, breaks the rules and continues to travel back to 2016 without his superiors knowing.
The story is told in alternating chapters from Johanna’s and Traveler’s point of view, I love books that do this as it means you can really get to know each character and their thoughts plus get more out of the story. I really liked both Johanna and Traveler, usually, I get annoyed with one of the main characters in a book but I didn’t find either of these two annoying. I thought they were very well suited to each other, with Johanna a down to earth girl and Traveler cocky and dangerous. Overall I really enjoyed their love story.
It was a bit confusing to start, trying to wrap my head around the time travel aspect and how it worked but the author did a really great job explaining it and once I had read more of the book it became clearer. I was hooked right away, I was obsessed with their love story and I got very emotional when it came to Traveler’s backstory.
If you’re looking for a good romance read with elements of sci-fi, twists, turns and humour I would highly recommend When It All Goes Still. It’s a very well written book with a great pace and unique plots.
