Afternoon Tea in the Aqua Shard
Afternoon Tea in the Aqua Shard
For our wedding last October, someone gave us an experience day voucher for afternoon tea in the Aqua Shard. Neither of us had ever been to The Shard so we were pretty excited! We waited to use it until the summer so there was less risk of it being cloudy. And, after we’d booked it in we realised it was a Peter Pan themed tea! I had no idea they did themed teas. But, from what I’d seen on Instagram, it looked pretty amazing.
Views from the Aqua Shard
We got to The Shard at 4pm and after having our bags checked headed straight up to the 31st floor where we were greeted right away. As we were a little early they sat us in a waiting booth where we could order some drinks and look at the views.
They showed us to our table when it was ready and about 5 minutes later a better table became available so they moved us there which I thought was really nice of them. We ended up being right by the window and had an amazing view of London!
Peter Pan Themed Afternoon Tea
As they prepared our table for the tea I noticed the plates were Peter Pan themed which was so adorable! We also ordered extra drinks as I’m not actually a big tea lover. I got a strawberry Bellini which was very refreshing while Jaz got himself a Margartia.
The food arrived on a ship that was placed next to us. It looked so cool! I really wanted to take the ship home and keep it as a decorative thing haha. It was filled with little sandwiches, savoury snacks and cakes that, of course, was all Peter Pan themed. You had some Tinkerbell cookies, Tick-Tock the Crocodile jelly, “Codfish” Captain Hook cod brandade croquettes, Peter Pan’s Secret Hollow Tree Entrance chocolate cake and more!
The waiter also came by with some water which he poured into the ship creating steam all around it for an extra special effect!
One issue I always find with afternoon teas is that there are never enough sandwiches! They’re always so good and moreish and I could spend so long nibbling away on them. But, I did appreciate the extra detail here with the tiny sword pierced through them haha.
The chocolate cake was definitely my favourite dessert. I loved it so much I stole Jaz’s piece too haha. He didn’t mind as he took two cakes that I wasn’t so keen on. While it was small it was incredibly rich and the raspberry jam inside was a welcome surprise.
I absolutely loved the Tinkerbell shortbread cookie too. It was so cute and again I wanted to just take it home with me rather than eat it!
Treasure Chest Scones
After we’d devoured everything on the ship the waiters took it away and presented us with a little wooden chest which was filled with warm, crumbly scones. We had some jam and cream on the table too and it was all so delicious and the perfect way to end the experience.
Honestly, the whole experience was amazing. I loved all the small, magical details they included to make it Peter Pan themed. And everything tasted incredible too. We had a great time and will definitely be heading back again at some point!
If you’re considering booking yourself in for a Peter Pan themed afternoon tea at the Aqua Shard I’d 100% recommend it. Great for kids, adults and Disney lovers alike, it was a really fun way to spend the afternoon.
