Charity Wing Walk 2018

May 9, 2018

Some of you may or may not know that my mother had a pretty big birthday back in March and to celebrate she decided to do something she’s always dreamed of while supporting a very good cause. On Saturday the 9th of June she will be doing a wing walk and raising money for our local hospital, we’re all pretty excited!

What is a Wing Walk?

If you don’t know a wing walk is where someone is strapped securely on top of the wings on a plane while a pilot is flying. Wing walking dates back to the 1920’s at airshows and was originally done to demonstrate a planes stability. Now a wing walk is open to anyone who wants to feel like they are actually flying and have a daring, exhilarating experience to never forget!

My mother has always been a bit of a daredevil. A few years ago she overcame her biggest fear of going underwater and went scuba diving in Thailand, she’s sat in a plane as it’s done loops before and now she wants to stand on top of one while in flight. Honestly, I think she’s mad haha but it’s all for a great cause!

Yeovil Hospital is where both my sister and I were born, it’s the only hospital in town and where we’ve always gone to whenever we’ve had an emergency. It has its own registered charity where all money donated goes toward improving the hospital’s facilities and the services, which makes a huge difference to those who need special, life-changing treatments, new mums and babies and the elderly.

It’s a great cause and can really help a lot of people. My mother’s aim is to raise £600 before the 9th of June. So far we’ve managed to raise £205 which is amazing and now we have one more month to really get the word out there and raise as much as we possibly can!

How You Can Help

If you want to help support not only my mothers dream of living life to the fullest but a great charity that will help our town and all its residents then you can donate as much or as little as you can to our Just Giving page here. If you can’t donate then you could retweet my pinned tweet here to help spread the word! I know both my mother and I would be eternally grateful, it would really mean a lot to us. I will be taking many photos and videos on the day and will write a blog post for you all to see, I will also make a special mention of everyone who donated/retweeted/supported in the post and on all my social media channels!

Thank you all for reading this post, I hope I can count on you to support my mother’s adventurous nature and the very worthwhile charity!
