Happy New Years Eve! It’s the last day of the year and I’m feeling pretty nostalgic. 2018 was probably one of the best years of my life so far and while I’m sad to see it go I can’t wait to see what 2019 brings. Tonight I’ll be bringing in the new year as I always do, in my PJs, sat on the sofa, drinking, eating, binge watching a series and watching the London fireworks on TV with the family. Cosy nights in are my favourite!
For my last post of the year, I wanted to look back through the last 12 months, say goodbye to 2018 and share my favourite, moments, memories and pictures.
The year started with a new job. I finally left retail and entered the world of digital marketing. It definitely had its ups and downs and it’s probably the most stressful job I’ve ever had but I’m very grateful for the experience. I’ve learnt so much, met some interesting people and not having to work weekends, bank holidays or over Christmas was amazing.
February was a month of shopping! I went to Bristol on the 10th, saw some gorgeous designer clothes and shoes and bought my first Jo Malone perfume, which is now my all-time favourite perfume. On the 17th I went to London with Jaz where we browsed Harrods and Selfridges, bought some unicorn cupcakes and some more Jo Malone treats.
It snowed! I don’t remember the last time it snowed quite this much in the UK and it was magical. We all got a few days off work, made snowmen, snow angels, a cat-sized igloo and went for a walk. It was Gaston’s first time experiencing snow too and he was very confused haha. I really hope it snows again in 2019.
March 20th was my mother’s 50th birthday so I bought tickets for all of us to see Les Mis in London and eat at Bubba Gump after. It was a really great day!
April 1st was Easter and we had a day filled with chocolate, movies and a roast which was perfect!
May was probably my favourite month of the year. Me, my mum and my sister had another shopping day in Exeter which was a lot of fun at the start of the month. Towards the end of May Jaz and I went on holiday to Disneyland Paris. I got to meet one of my all-time favourite characters, Alice, and Jaz finally proposed! Only took him 7 years haha. He proposed in front of the castle during the firework show which is how I always dreamed it would happen.
In June my mother did a charity wing walk and loved every second of it. She managed to raise a lot of money for our local hospital while doing something extremely adventurous to cross off her bucket list.
I also took the 25th of June off work to celebrate it being halfway to Christmas. I spent the day in a Christmas jumper, watching movies and drinking hot chocolate. The 6-month mark is when the festive season begins for me, when I start listening to Christmas songs and making lists of what to get for people.
July was filled with healthy eating, weight loss and beaches. My diet was very clean and free from sugar, I’d lost about half a stone and I was feeling really healthy and good about myself so I will be starting this diet up again in January.
Jaz and I also had a lovely, relaxing day out which included an off-road driving experience for him and horse watching for me in the morning and then a trip to the beach in the afternoon.
In August Jaz and I visited the most beautiful venue, Hedingham Castle, in Essex! I knew instantly it was the perfect venue for our wedding, but it took Jaz a little bit longer to get onboard.
It was Jaz’s 26th birthday in September and I had booked us a little apartment in Wales for a long weekend away. We visited Barry Island (we’re both very big Gavin and Stacey fans), went for nighttime walks along the beach, attempted to cook a Gordon Ramsey recipe which failed massively so we ended up eating wedges and popcorn. Then went for a shopping day in Cardiff.
So much happened in October! I took part in Blogtober which was really successful and I was so proud I managed to blog for the whole 31 days. I decorated my house and updated my room with autumnal and Halloween decorations. Jaz and I visited the Longleat Autumn Festival which was a lot of fun and we officially booked Hedingham Castle as our wedding venue for October 31st 2020!
November is one of my favourite months of the year. Firework night, my birthday and Christmas decorations slowly start to go up. For my 26th birthday this year Jaz splashed out and booked us a stay at a very luxurious hotel in London. He also got me a Nutella birthday cake from Harrods, booked tickets for Madame Tussauds which I had never been too before, took me to the London Aquarium, and booked a meal at Dishoom in Carnaby Street. It was a really packed day but it was one of the best weekends of the year!
December, of course, was Christmas! The first weekend in December Jaz and I went to Winter Wonderland which was insanely busy but a lot of fun. December also consisted of firework displays, cocktails, gingerbread houses, good food, presents, decorations, movies and cosy pj’s. We had a really great Christmas day and I’m so sad it’s all over now but I’m already super excited for next Christmas!
That pretty much sums up my 2018! It was a really fantastic year filled with plenty of fun trips, life-changing events and memories. I hope 2019 is just as fun, already my family and I are planning a potential trip to Edinburgh and Jaz and I have some very big plans that I am so excited for and will talk about more nearer the time.
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful 2018 too and that 2019 will bring you lots of happiness and adventures!
