Month in Pictures: April 2020

April 29, 2020
Blog post

I can’t believe April 2020 is finally coming to an end. Did it drag by for anyone else? The last month and a half have been such a strange time for everyone. Who would’ve thought at the start of the year that we’d all have to stand in a queue 2 metres apart from everyone just to get into Tesco? Or that the Tiger King and Carol Baskin would provide SO much entertainment!? Still, this is our new normal right now and there are few highlights from April 2020 that I’d like to share with you all in my month in pictures.

Continued working from home

I’ve now been working from home for 6 weeks and have finally managed to settle into a routine. It’s crazy to me that I was only in this job for two weeks before we all had to work from home. After four months of being unemployed since I moved to Essex, I was so excited to finally get out and about to go to work every day. Only to be stuck back at home two weeks later haha.

Despite spending more time in this new role at home rather than in the office I am really enjoying this job. The people I work with are great and so vastly different compared to my previous companies, which I still have nightmares about! It’s so nice to finally be in a job where I feel I can be happy. I am definitely looking forward to getting back in the office again.

Walks in the park

My fiance and I have been going for a lot of walks in our local park. It’s been really nice being able to get out and about when the weather is nice. It’s also the only time where I get dressed up now and feel more human. It may seem boring just walking around the same park every day, but now that spring has sprung everything is starting to bloom and look really pretty.

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was a weird one. It was the first time I’d ever spent Easter away from my family and my home. It definitely upset me, not being able to go home. But I tried to make the most of it and kept myself busy. I made some Easter nest cakes, painted my nails and had a pampering day, spent a lot of time playing Animal Crossing and The Sims and of course ate a load of chocolate.

Bought a new camera

I ended up doing quite a bit of online shopping this month. The biggest purchase I made was the Olympus Pen E-PL8 camera! I’ve been wanting this camera for about a year now but could never justify spending so much. Since the lockdown has meant I’m saving a lot of money on the train, days out, food, gym and just general everyday life stuff I thought I’d finally take the plunge and buy the camera.

This camera is a holy grail amongst some bloggers and I’m so excited to start using it. I can’t wait for our first trip out to the beach or the countryside or somewhere equally as picturesque where I can really test it out. I’m also very excited to hopefully up my makeup picture taking skills.

Here’s some of the pictures I’ve taken with the camera in my local park so far:

April 2020

That’s all of my April 2020 monthly highlights. This felt like a very slow month with not a lot going on and more bad things happening than good. I have no idea what May will hold. Whether we’ll still be on lockdown by the end of the month, whether things will start to open up again, or even whether my fiance and I will have to seriously talk about a backup plan for our wedding.

Still, I’m trying to look on the bright side of things and make the most of all the free time we have at home.

I hope you all enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments what the highlight of your month has been. While you’re here don’t forget to subscribe to Beauty and the Bookshelves. You can also follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest too. Thanks for reading!

Have you had much of a chance to play with your new camera yet? Hopefully May will be a bit easier for you xx

Yes! I’ve used it quite a bit now in my local park and it’s amazing. I’m very excited to use it in London and other places when we can travel again 😊
