Month in Pictures: June 2020

Okay, so June 2020 absolutely flew by! Like, where did that month actually go?! Mid-way through the year and properly in the midst of summer now, it’s hard to believe really.

Lockdown restrictions in the UK are easing but I’m still barely leaving the house. I think I only really left the house on one day this month which seems crazy to me when I really think about it! I see so many people flocking to the beaches and meeting up with friends with no social distancing and I’m just so not ready for that! As much as I would love to go out, do some summer day trips, plan holidays and go to pubs and bars, I’m still just too scared haha.

Here are all my highlights from June 2020:

Bought my Wedding Shoes

This month I finally bought my wedding shoes! With everything else going on it was something that had just slipped my mind until I was idly browsing the Ted Baker website. For Christmas last year, my fiance’s mother got me a Ted Baker gift card, so I was just looking for some summer shoes to use it on when I spotted these and fell instantly in love. These shoes are absolutely perfect for me. They’re not too high which is just what I need as our venue has a LOT of stairs haha. They’re simple yet stunning with a little sparkly detail on the front. I love them so much and they seem super comfy too. I can’t wait to wear them on the big day.

Bought a Sofa

So I’m not going to go into detail about the house we bought back in 2018 as it’s a little bit of a sore subject for me right now. But, we were supposed to be moving into it next month and it’s now been pushed back…yet again…by another month. This whole experience has been a complete nightmare and I will never, ever buy a new build house ever again.

But, with the delivery times on sofas being around 14 weeks at the moment we thought we might as well get one as surely, SURELY, we’d be in the new house in 14 weeks time. We headed into DFS and it didn’t actually take long until we found one we loved. If you had told me at the start of the month that we would’ve bought a blue, velvet sofa I would’ve looked at you in complete disbelief. But that’s exactly what we did. Navy blue, smooth velvet (not that crushed velvet which I see all over Instagram and am not a fan of) with little orange and green accent cushions. It was bold, colourful, super cosy and comfy and perfect. We got two, two-seater sofas and I can’t wait for them to arrive and for us to finally be in the house!

Had my First Nero in 3 Months

After we bought the sofa we decided to make the most of being outdoors and went into our favourite coffee shop for the first time since Lockdown started. Caffe Nero! To say I was excited was an understatement. I’ve missed Caffe Nero SO MUCH. I could’ve cried with happiness when I was standing in the queue and when I got my drink haha. Of course, I had to get a hot chocolate, Nero does the best ones. I also treated myself to a chocolate and salted caramel cookie.

Celebrated Halfway to Christmas

Just like I do every year, I celebrated halfway to Christmas on the 25th of June! I love this annual tradition of mine. It always gives me something to look forward to. I had booked the day off work simply to watch Christmas movies, listen to Christmas songs, and build a Cadbury chocolate gingerbread house. It was the most relaxed, fun day I’ve had in a while. There was one point where I genuinely forgot it was summer, despite the heatwave, as it felt like Christmas Eve haha.

Healthy Eating and Working out

With the exception of the Caffe Nero treat I’ve stuck to my healthy eating and regular workouts and feel like it’s paying off. Although I haven’t lost a lot of weight this month, only 3/4 pounds, I can see a difference. Even compared to last month I can see small improvements. With just 4 months until the wedding and 2 months until my final dress fitting, I still have a lot of work to do. While the progress isn’t as fast as I would like it to be there is still progress.

Workout Progress June 2020

Those are all my highlights for June 2020. With more businesses opening in July and the social distancing rules relaxing, I am very curious to see what’s going to happen in July. Maybe I’ll be brave and venture out more than once next month haha.

I hope you all enjoyed this post. If you did then don’t forget to subscribe to Beauty and the Bookshelves. You can also follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest too. Thanks for reading!
