Month in Pictures: May 2020

May 2020 is nearly over which means it’s time for another month in pictures!
I can’t believe it’s June and halfway through the year next week. While I’m definitely getting used to living in lockdown/quarantine now I do feel like I’m missing out on so much. Summer is meant to be about making plans, seeing friends and family, going out on fun day trips and planning holidays. Still, we continue to try and make the best of the situation and enjoy the summer months as much as possible.
BBQs & Cocktails in the Sunshine
With two bank holidays and some very sunny weather in May, we really made the most of it by having BBQs & cocktails practically every weekend. I don’t think I’ve ever had so many BBQs in one summer before haha. It has been really nice though and a great way to chill out before a new work week begins. We’ll usually start the BBQ at 4pm, play some music, have a few cocktails, enjoy the sunshine and just talk about anything and everything.
Lost Half a Stone
This month I’ve been on a bit of health kick. When lockdown happened and the gyms closed I kind of took advantage and ate just everything and anything. It was a strange time as it felt like our lives were all on pause but time was still moving and it suddenly hit me that my wedding (if it goes ahead) was still just 5 months away! So, I got back on track.
I’ve been eating a lot healthier and I’ve been doing virtual PT sessions plus skipping for 15 minutes for a bit of fasted cardio every morning and I’ve managed to lose half a stone which I’m very happy with! Ideally, I’d like to lose about 2 stone but that’s going to be extremely difficult. Still, I’m on the right track so fingers crossed!
Bought my Bridesmaid Dresses
Never in a million years did I think I’d end up buying my wedding dresses from ASOS. Originally we had planned to have a shopping day in Bath or Exeter over the Easter weekend but obviously that couldn’t happen. Again, it hit me how close the wedding actually was and I started panicking and frantically hinting for bridesmaid dresses.
One of my favourite dress brands is Chi Chi London and luckily both of my bridesmaids loved my top pick from there. So, I ordered them and left them on my bridesmaid’s doorsteps haha. I’m so in love with these dresses. They’re a beautiful navy colour with lots of intricate detailing and my bridesmaids look amazing in them!
Drove into London
During the first May bank holiday, Jaz and I decided to just go for a quick little drive and we ended up taking a detour and driving into London which is about 20 minutes from us without traffic. It’d been so long since either of us had seen London and it was amazing to be able to drive around it on such a sunny day. I do really miss the city. I miss taking day trips to explore or browse the really high-end shops. Going to the museums, Hyde Park, the zoo and the aquarium and all the other tourist attractions. I miss getting an ice tea from Caffe Nero or Costa and wandering around. I just miss the whole vibe of London.
Celebrated our 2 Year Engagement Anniversary
It’s hard to believe that 2 years ago Jaz proposed in Disneyland Paris in front of the castle during the firework show. It really has flown by! It was, without a doubt, one of the best days of my life. I hadn’t been expecting it at all but getting proposed to in Disneyland Paris had always been my dream.
We’d had plans to celebrate it as a long weekend in Paris, having drinks by the Eiffel Tower and shopping down Champs de Elysee but sadly that wasn’t meant to be. Instead, we had yet another BBQ haha and splashed out on a bottle of Dom Perignon for the special occasion.
Those are all of my highlights for May 2020. June definitely brings a lot of uncertainty as I believe businesses and schools will start to re-open again. I have no idea how that’s going to work and it’s going to be a while before I feel safe to actually go anywhere but we’ll see how it goes.
I hope you all enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments some of your May 2020 highlights. While you’re here don’t forget to subscribe to Beauty and the Bookshelves. You can also follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest too. Thanks for reading!
