My Goals for 2020
With the start of the New Year comes a surge of motivation, ambition and eagerness to set goals for 2020.
2019 was a strange year and I don’t remember setting any goals. At the start of the year, I was stuck in a job that I despised and was giving me panic attacks on a weekly basis, our house got delayed by a year and I was in a huge slump. By the middle of the year, I’d left that toxic work environment and instead focused on my blog and doing a few freelance projects. I also started going out more and met some great new people.
At the end of 2019, I had moved to Essex with Jaz and felt very overwhelmed and unsettled. Essex is completely opposite to the calm, small town of Yeovil, Somerset. Moving away from everyone and everything I knew was a lot harder than I could’ve anticpated. The last 3 months of the year I’ve cried more than I knew I was capable of. It was a mix of feeling homesick, lost, useless and a burden to Jaz. Things are slowly starting to get better but I’m nowhere near ready to think of Essex as home.
So, with the start of 2020, I wanted to set myself both realistic and unrealistic goals to try and achieve. Goals that will keep me occupied, better myself and motivate me to work hard.
Getting married is undoubtedly the biggest thing that will happen to me this year and on the 31st of October I’ll be able to tick this off!
So far I have 3 holidays abroad booked and am trying to plan a few trips around the UK.
Move into our first home
After what has felt like an eternity Jaz and I will finally be able to move into the house we bought back in October 2018 this year!
Adopt a cat
As soon as we move into our house one the first things I want to do is adopt a cat. Since moving to Essex into Jaz’s family’s home I’ve really missed having a little kitty around. Ideally, I’d like to adopt two kittens at the same time but we’ll see how things go!
Get a car/gain confidence in driving again
I passed my driving test in 2016, was a very unconfident driver, almost had two crashes and haven’t driven since. It was never really a problem while I was living in Somerset, but now I feel like I need to start practising and get semi-comfortable with driving.
It always annoys me with how little I read in a year considering how much I love it and how many books I buy that just get left unread on a shelf. I always seem to struggle to find the time. I’d like to try and aim to read at least one book a month.
Host Christmas for the first time
This will be an extremely big task, especially as we come back from our honeymoon on November 16th, but I’ve always wanted to host Christmas. It’s my favourite holiday and I can’t wait to give hosting a go!
Similar to reading I love to bake but can’t ever seem to find the time. I’ve been cooking a lot more too since moving and want to learn some more tasty, healthy recipes.
Try not to care what people think of me as much
I’ve always struggled with caring what people think about me too much and it stops me from doing so many things I want to do.
With the wedding and a two week all-inclusive beach holiday coming up at the end of the year I need to lose weight, get fit and feel happy. My weight is something I’ve always battled with. Ideally, I want to lose about 2 stone and with the help of my personal trainer and both Jaz and I eating much cleaner hopefully, I can achieve this!
Send my book to literary agents
One of my lifelong dreams is to become an author. It’s a longshot I know and requires a lot of courage and confidence I’m not sure I have right now haha. But, I’d like to get my book ready enough to send off to some agents and hope for the best!

Last year I had a total of 15,658 views, with the majority of that through search engines which I was really proud of. I feel like I really upped my blogging game last year and I want to continue to work and improve my blog and hit at least 20,000 views by the end of this year.
Post 3 times a week
This may be a little challenging with how busy my year is going to be but I’d like to try and post 3 times a week
Discover new blogs every week
I feel like I’m really slacking on discovering new blogs lately so I want to put aside time each week to find and follow new bloggers.
Comment and engage more on people’s blogs
Over the Christmas period, I definitely slowed down on commenting and engaging with other bloggers, I’m sure you can all understand that it was a very busy time of year! So, I want to pick this back up and engage a lot more.
Those are all of my goals for 2020! This is going to be such a big year and while I’m very excited I’m also ridiculously nervous. It’s definitely going to be stressful but hopefully, it’ll be one of the best years of my life!
Are you looking forward to what 2020 has to offer? What are some of your goals this year? Let me know in the comments!
