New House Tour!
Our New Build House Tour!
If you follow me on Instagram, or read my latest month in pictures post, you’ll know that at the end of last month we finally moved into the house we bought in 2018! It was a really crazy busy time and we’ve still got so much to buy and do and sort out. Most of our things are still in boxes and bags lying around the house. But, we are starting to feel a little more settled which is good. So, today I thought I’d show you all around with a new house tour!
The hallway is a lot bigger than we thought, it’s such a bright, open space and we have a few ideas with what we want to do with it like a round rug in the centre, a mirror, a little side table and maybe a seat somewhere for people to put their shoes on.
The kitchen/dining room is probably the most put-together room right now. It’s where we spend most of our time at the moment too. It’s a really good size, and again it’s very open and bright. Plus, it had two big cupboards which have proved to be very useful for storing Christmas decorations, cleaning supplies and the hoover etc.
The living room is on the second floor and still very much a work in progress but I think it’ll end up being my favourite room as it already feels so cosy. We don’t have sofas yet, they should be coming toward the end of September and there will be a fireplace installed around the same time too which I am very excited about!
The second-floor hallway is a pretty big space and we’re planning on putting a bench with storage underneath or a chaise lounge under the window.
The study has a huge window that looks out the front and brings in a lot of heat so we need to get blinds for it, but it’s a great little space and we plan on putting the tortoises in there, plus a sofa bed somewhere for extra guests.
Right now, the guest bedroom is my least favourite room just because it’s an absolute mess. Aside from the bed, this room has just become a bit of a dumping ground while we organise everything. Eventually, once we’ve got wardrobes and can put all out clothes somewhere, this will become my makeup/dressing room which I’m very much looking forward to.
We’re both lucky enough to have our own separate bathrooms which has been such a blessing. On the ground floor we have a large downstairs toilet, on the second floor we have a shower room (neither of which I’ve taken pictures of as there’s nothing much to show there) and on the top floor, we have my main bathroom. I’ve loved having my own room which I can decorate however I like. So, of course, everything is currently pretty pink haha. There’s still a lot of work to do in here too. I need to get a mirror, preferably with lights around it, shelves and a towel rack but right now I’m really happy with it.
The main bedroom is a cosy, relaxed space that we’re currently working on. We’ve recently bought and put up some curtains as the builders directly opposide us start working at 7am and it was always awkward for me to wake up and just seem them working. We’ll also be getting some fitted wardrobes installed to really make use of the space.
This is Jaz’s assigned bathroom which he is also loving. He upgraded his shower to a waterfall shower head which looks super fancy. He’s also planning on getting a mirror and some shelves for extra storage.
The garden is a pretty decent size I think for our first garden to manage completely on our own. Right now, it’s just a patch of mud but obviously we will be putting some grass down at some point. We also have a shed which is currently filled with Jaz’s gym equipement.
That’s our new house tour! Let me know in the comments what you think. I’m so happy we’re finally in the house and have really been enjoying packing and deciding where things go.
