Last month I posted this blog all about my mother’s charity raising adventure. We aren’t 100% sure yet just how much she raised but it’s around £500 which is amazing and on the 9th of June she completed the Wing Walk!
Our day started pretty early as we had to travel to Shaftsbury to get there for 10am. When we got there we knew we’d have to wait a while so sat outside on some picnic tables with a few drinks and watched the planes flying. It was quite busy with lots of people also doing the wing walk and other activities. It seemed everyone was feeling both excited and nervous, people were coming up and talking to us, asking if mum had done this before which she hadn’t, and the whole atmosphere was just really friendly.
The event organisers started calling people up to do health checks. Mum was beyond excited at this point and couldn’t wait to go up! When she went off to do her health check we were able to watch a couple other people go up, it looked terrifying! They were strapped on top of the plane and had to constantly hold their arms out so the pilot could see. If the ride was too bumpy they would have to put their thumbs down, or if they were okay and happy with the speed they’d have to put their thumbs up to let the pilot know.
When it was finally time for mum to go up we all stood by the fence with our phones out ready to capture the whole moment!
You can just about see her on top of the plane haha. The experience lasted about 20 minutes and she paid to have the whole thing filmed which is a really cool thing to have. When she came back down and got off the plane she had the biggest smile on her face and told us she wants to do a skydive next! She really is a daredevil haha.

After we watched a few more people we had lunch in the little restaurant there. The food was immensely good! I had the lasagne with a chocolate fudge cake after. Both mum and I had the cake and died a little inside, I wanted to take the whole thing home!
I won’t lie when we were there watching everyone go up and come back down with massive grins and yelling ‘that was amazing!’ it didn’t seem as scary as I thought and now I feel like I’d want to try it! Mum had the best time, raised money for a great cause and we all had a really fun day out. She’s now looking into how she can do a skydive and has found somewhere local that will train her to have a skydiving licence! So make sure you stay tuned for the next adventure!
I hope you enjoyed this post. Have you ever done a wing walk before? Would you want to do it? Let me know in the comments!
