The festive season is pretty much upon us so it’s time to grab a mince pie and a hot chocolate, cosy up with a blanket on the sofa and watch some good ol’ Christmas TV!
As we all know Christmas is my favourite time of year and I don’t think it’s ever too early to start watching Christmas films or TV specials. They make me incredibly happy and who doesn’t love a festive, cosy night in all snuggled up in front of the TV? To fully enjoy the Christmas magic these TV specials bring, take a look at the elegantly designed, high-quality 4k HDR TVs from Panasonic!
These Christmas TV Specials are my personal favourites that I watch year after year to get in the spirit. They’re funny, heart-warming, chaotic and, most importantly, super festive!
Gavin and Stacey
Gavin and Stacey is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best Christmas tv special of all time! It has me crying with laughter no matter how often I watch it and just depicts a classic family Christmas. From last-minute shopping, bad Christmas cracker jokes, singing classic Christmas songs and playing board games to overindulging on food and alcohol, family dramas and of course opening presents. This Christmas special has it all! It’s just a feel-good episode and I watch it multiple times during the festive season. If you’ve never seen it before then you definitely need to watch it this year! I guarantee you won’t regret it.
Outnumbered always has me in stitches and their Christmas TV specials are no exception. Similar to Gavin and Stacey they show a normal family, living an ordinary life and make even the most mundane things hilarious. The earlier Christmas specials are the best when the kids are still kids. It’s festive, completely chaotic and totally brilliant! Some of the things the kids say has me crying with laughter and the sibling rivalries just remind me of me and my sister when we were kids.
So the US Office is my favourite TV show of all time and I love all their Christmas specials! My favourites though would be ‘Secret Santa’ where Phyllis plays Santa, ‘Christmas Party’ where Michael goes over the secret Santa budget and they all swap gifts and ‘Morrocon Christmas where Dwight buys hundreds of dolls to sell at a ridiculous price. I’m currently re-watching all the seasons from the start so I can’t wait to watch the Christmas episodes again!
Mr Bean was such a childhood classic! I found him absolutely hilarious and the Christmas special, Merry Christmas Mr Bean, was so cute! It can be sad in places as he is quite a lonely character but his childlike nature and excitement for Christmas make it really festive. It’s also very funny, from Christmas shopping and causing havoc in the department store, setting up stockings for himself, Teddy and the resident mouse to getting a turkey stuck on his head and pulling a super cracker himself.
This is a classic that I watch every single year without fail. If you haven’t seen it then what have you been doing with your life?! It’s such a beautiful, festive short film that really gets me in the Christmas mood. It reminds me of being a kid and Christmas at gives that exciting magical feeling. The music is amazing, the dancing snowmen are adorable, and while it can get a little sad at the end overall it’s just a really cosy Christmas tv special to watch this time of year.
Lastly the Friends Christmas TV specials! There’s quite a lot of them but only a couple that I really love and like to watch every year. One is the Holiday Armadillo, that episode just cracks me up. Monica’s line, ‘Santa, the armadillo and I will have a little talk in the kitchen..there’s a sentence I never thought I’d say’ gets me every time and then when Joey walks in as Superman! It’s all a big mess and I love it haha. The other episode I love is The One with the Routine, where Ross and Monica get to go to Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve and they perform that embarrassing routine. I find it so funny and I also love the storyline with Rachel and Phoebe searching for Monica’s hidden Christmas presents too.
So those are all my personal favourite Christmas TV specials that I love watching every year, honestly they just never get old! Have you watched any of these? Which are your favourite Christmas specials?
