Our Engagement Photoshoot
A couple of weeks ago Jaz and I had our engagement photoshoot session with our wedding photographer!
It was something we had been planning since we booked our photographer, Lucie, in March. We were able to choose when and where we wanted the shoot to happen. It took a while to decide but in the end, we wanted to do the shoot in Brighton. Brighton is a fun place that we’ve always loved visiting and, in the very far future, we’d like to move there.
Originally we were planning to do the shoot in September for that later summer sun. However, life got in the way so we arranged it for mid-October. That then also had to be re-arranged. It’s such a busy time of year for both us and the photographer but we definitely wanted the shoot to happen this year! We all settled on the 9th of November at Brighton Pier.
Jaz and I were both very nervous and excited for this photo shoot. We had no idea what to expect from it. I spent the entire morning getting ready. Taking an extra-long time on my makeup, getting my hair blow-dried and styled and choosing our outfits.
It was quite stressful choosing what to wear as I’m not exactly happy with my size right now. Thankfully because of the time of year it was a pretty chilly day so I was able to throw on my gorgeous green Ted Baker coat which makes any outfit look special!
Arriving for the Photoshoot
When we arrived in Brighton that afternoon it was, of course, tipping it down with rain and extremely windy. We got there a little early so we could fit in a few drinks in a local pub to loosen up a bit.
We met Lucie on the pier and luckily she had loads of ideas in case the weather was bad. She made us feel very relaxed and told us to play some arcade games and she’d hang around taking pictures. A lot of the time we barely noticed she was there so the pictures came out very natural which I love.
We then braved the weather and went to stand outside under the pier for some more posed/artistic shots. These were some of my favourite shots that I’ve seen so far. I think they really suit us as a couple and the moody weather made them look very autumnal.
The entire shoot lasted about an hour and it was a lot of fun. We had a really great time and felt so at ease with our photographer. It was a great way to get to know her a little better and give us an insight into what it’ll be like on the actual wedding day.
After the Photoshoot
The next day I was very pleasantly surprised as Lucie had sent through a sneak preview of some of her favourite pictures from the shoot. I’m so happy with how the pictures turned out. They look amazing and we will definitely be framing a few of them and putting them in an album to look back on.
I’m definitely feeling a lot more relaxed about the photos on our wedding day now. The hour flew by and we both really enjoyed ourselves. I can’t wait to see the rest of the photos from the shoot in a few weeks time! Lucie is such a talented photographer and a lovely person and I feel extremely happy that she and her boyfriend, Greg, will be photographing and filming our big day! If you’re looking for an Essex based wedding photographer who’s fun, down to earth and takes awesome photos then I’d highly recommend Lucie MLT Photography.
